Elements and Performance Criteria
- Prepare to develop and validate biometric equipment/systems installation
- Technical factors relevant to the system installation in criminal, civil and commercial settings are identified
- Scope of the biometric system installation and factors affecting the integration and application of proprietary or open source packages are identified and evaluated in accordance with workplace procedures
- Existing and planned technical and environmental requirements are evaluated and documented in accordance with workplace procedures
- Work team/group is assembled of relevant persons in accordance with work requirements and workplace procedures
- Existing and projected business model, organisational and information technology management structures and legal aspects of biometrics are analysed in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant industry standards
- Activities are planned in accordance with workplace procedures for timelines and in consultation with others involved
- Correct operation and safety of software, tools equipment and testing devices required to carry out work are obtained and checked in accordance with relevant industry standards
- Work supervisor and/or customer/s are consulted to determine functions and parameters of the system and confirmation documented in accordance with workplace procedures
- Develop and validate biometric equipment/systems installation with relevant instructions
- Development process for installation, equipment, instructions and validation requirements of the biometric system are evaluated in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant industry standards
- Safety, functional and budgetary requirements are incorporated in the installation plan, analysed and evaluated in accordance with workplace procedures and relevant industry standards
- Equipment required for the biometric system are validated in accordance with the biometric system installation and workplace procedures
- Australian and international standards and/or codes of practice are used to evaluate compliance
- Status and parameters of function system devices are entered in accordance with workplace procedures, manufacturer instructions and work requirements
- Location of device/s in the installation of the biometric system is tested for correct operation of system functions and documented in accordance with workplace procedures
- Unplanned situation/s are responded to in accordance with relevant industry standards and workplace procedures
- Validate and report on biometric equipment/systems installation
- Operating anomalies are identified and reported in accordance with workplace procedures
- System malfunctions are identified during testing using techniques in accordance with relevant industry standards and workplace procedures
- Approaches to solving issues/problems are analysed to provide most effective solutions
- Work completion is documented and relevant person/s notified in accordance with workplace procedures
